Jelly Belly was a dilute tortise shell kitten that I brought home from a friends house as they were taking her and her siblings to the pound. She had always came up to me and played whenever I was over there. She was about 2 months old. She had the most unique and beautiful markings and was the sweetest thing I just could not think of her going to the pound. Bailey was very lonley at the time too, so I thought it would be good to get her a playmate. Jelly fit right into our family right away. Bailey and Jelly hit it off as best friends within a week of her being with us. She also quite rapidly became Kaitlyn's cat. Kaitlyn was quite young when we got Jelly too, so I thought it was very special that they bonded so well. They were inseperable most of the time.
Jelly was the most well behavied cat with the kids. Kaitlyn laid on her, and lugged her around the house, and stuck her in boxes and laundry baskets, and Jelly just took it all, she never lashed out at either of the kids. She amazed me at how much roughing around she put up with. If she got too tired of it she'd go hide somewhere and come back out when she was ready for more. It wasn't just my kids she was like that with, it was all kids. One of my friends had a daughter who was about a year old, and she would roll on Jelly and pull her fur and just be mean to her and Jelly never lashed out at her. She was a very good cat.
We had Jelly for several years before she started having 'accidents' around the house. Being in an apartment I couldn't afford to have her ruin my carpets by peeing on them all the time, so we made the hard decision to give her up. I found her a home with a family member that had a house, so she could go outside sometimes too. She responded very well to her new family, and had no more accidents in their house. I thought I had made the right choice to keep her happy. Then her new family had to move, and they didn't lock her in the house as they were taking stuff out of the house. She got scared and ran outside, and was no where to be found when they were done moving. I can only hope that she has found another loving family to who is taking care of my special kitty.
